In the autumn of 2022, the production company Jarowskij filmed the crime drama "A Nearly Normal
Family" here in Lund, a mini-series based on author Mattias Edvardsson's novel of the same name.
The series was published on the streaming service Netflix on November 24, 2023. The story is
about a family, consisting of father Adam who is a priest, mother Ulrika who is a lawyer and
their daughter Stella, and how a murder affects them and how far they are willing to go to
protect each other.
The series takes place in many beautiful locations here in Lund and this visitor's guide shows most of the places for those who want to see them after watching the series. The visitor's guide mentions the different locations and the different characters but does not tell anything about the story, not to spoil the experience for those who want to read Mattias Edvardsson's novel or watch the series on Netflix first. To watch the series, you need a subscription to Netflix.
Visitor's guide to the locations in Lund where the series was filmed
In the large map, or by clicking on the various links to Google Maps in the text of this visitor's guide, you can see more precisely where the different filming locations are located. The first six places are a bit further away and are best reached by car or bike. The other filming locations can be easily reached as a walk in the city center.
The series starts outside Bollhuset (1), which is a sports hall for handball, basketball, volleyball, floorball, etc. In another scene, Ulrika is seen outside the central sports arena (2).
Stella and her best friend Amina are seen at Mejeriet nightclub (3) where Stella meets Chris.
The house where i.e. Södertull primary care center is located (4) is a police station in the series.
The family lives at Otto Lindblads väg 15 (5) and their lawyer Mikael Blomberg lives at Pålsjövägen 20 (6).
In one scene, Stella is looking for her friend Amina at Shotluckan (7) Café Ariman (8), which are popular places amongst students in Lund.
Adam, who is a priest, parks in the courtyard (9) behind Lund's diocesan office at Kiliansgatan. From there he walks across the beautiful courtyard of the diocesan office (10), looking like a monastery courtyard. The courtyard ca be entered and visited when the gate on the west side of the chancellery is open. When Adam comes out on the other side, he comes directly to the entrance to the All-Saints Church (Allhelgonakyrkan) (17) where he is working. In a film, everything is possible.
Chris lives in a large penthouse apartment at Stora Algatan 2 (11).
The murder the entire series is about takes place at Tegnérplatsen (12).
The beautiful fountain on the University Plaza (13) with the University Main Building in the background can be seen in one scene. In another scene, Chris and Amina can be seen on Sankt Annegatan (14).
The lawyer Mikael Blomberg has his office in the beautiful house at Sandgatan 14 (15), which the Lund Cathedral architect Helgo Zettervall build as his residence in 1871.
A few times, Ulrika visits the University Library (16). In one scene she meets Amina in the beautiful Tegnérsalen, which is used as a quiet reading room. There is more information about the University Library in the visitor guide for the University Historical Walk.
Adam is working as a priest in the beautiful All Saints' Church (17), which was inaugurated on November first in 1891, the All-Saints’ Day. It was then the first church to be built in Lund since the Mediaeval Ages.
In one scene, Ulrika and Amina are walking outside the beautiful building called The Old Surgeon (18), where the Faculty of Social Sciences at Lund University is located. They are also sitting and having coffee at Café Eden (19).
You can see Amina and Chris at the restaurant Inferno (20), which also is a popular place amongst the students in Lund. Later Stella goes there looking for Amina.
Ulrika can be seen several times at the Faculty of Law (21), where she is working. Stella works at Grandma's bakery (22) (Mormors bageri) at Knut den Stores square.
Stella and Amina are walking through the small beautiful Bytaregränden (23), and in another scene, Adam and Amina's father are seen walking on Lilla Fiskaregatan (24) (Small Fishing Street) on their way to La Pizzeria Italia (25) where Ulrika and Amina's mother are waiting for them.
Linda Levander, who can be seen in a few scenes, lives at the northern part of Råbygatan (26). Stella's best friend Amina and her family live in the yard at Östra Mårtensgatan 12 (27).
